Mr Porter x Bellerose – Good Vibrations

There’s something about the summer season that uplifts the mood, definitely after the awkward spring we’ve all been through. With that positivity in mind, we’re excited to present a limited edition summer capsule, designed exclusively for Mr Porter. As a brand that has always been more about an attitude and lifestyle than a certain set of clothes, we created a dynamic wardrobe that is both seasonal and utilitarian, suited for days at the beach as well as days in the city, or out in the country. Loose and comfy shorts, relaxed camp-collar shirts (often with loud, colorful prints) and striped pocket’s in sun-faded colors are juxtaposed next to color-block cotton sweaters, denim overshirts and a checked – slightly prepped up - coach jacket. A mix-and-match affair, Bellerose style. The capsule collection is now available online.

For those unaware, Mr Porter is an award-winning online retailer for men’s style, offering an incredible range of international menswear, next to expert advice and inspirational content. As a market leader and innovator, they carry over 450 brands (including Bellerose, of course) and have 4 offices spread out over 3 continents. “It goes without saying that having our design team bounce around ideas with theirs was inspiring and fulfilling”, Creative Director Derek Van Heurck says. “We constructed this capsule with the beach as a starting point, because somehow being Belgian means being drawn to the sea. Look at us for example, our very first store was in Knokke, by the Belgian coast, and our family’s country house is at a stone’s throw from the beach of Cadzand”. However, it soon became apparent that the multi-dimensional Bellerose man needed more than just beachwear, so a small wardrobe was created with items that are multi-functional, durable and fun to wear.

A small range of men’s shirts is all we had back in 1989”, Derek adds, “Taking inspiration from authentic workwear, military garments and casual classics along the way, we’ve been able to construct a universe of our own, with a definite Belgitude but also a global appeal”. That global appeal has lead to points of sale across the world, next to Bellerose’s own stores, and a fast-growing online interest in an increasingly digital world. One could say that the timing for a collaboration like this was perfect. “Creating a capsule for Mr Porter wasn’t only a challenge we gladly accepted, it also confirms that we’re on the right track when it comes to menswear”, Derek concludes.
